      <description>The first night of the 2012 Democratic National Convention included presentation of the party platform for a final vote by delegates. Speakers included former President Jimmy Carter, who spoke via pre-recorded video. San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro gave the keynote address, and First Lady Michelle Obama closed out the evening, introduced by a video which included many friends and many members of her family.</description>

      <title>Opposition to Roberts Supreme Court Nomination</title>
      <description>Ms. Keenan spoke with reporters on the opposition of her organization, NARAL Pro-Choice America, of Judge Roberts to the U.S. Supreme Court. She introduced a victim of an abortion clinic bombing, Emily Lyons, who spoke of her experience and concerns with Judge Roberts nomination. Ms. Keenan talked about the legal brief that Roberts made on behalf of the United States in a case concerning a bombing of an abortion clinic. Following their remarks, they responded to questions and comments from the reporters. Mr. Cornish fielded legal questions.
 
 Ms. Keenan announced the launching of a national television ad campaign to focus on Judge Roberts' stance on abortion. The advertisement claimed that the nominee filed a brief in support of an American domestic terrorist group. Following her announcement, she played the tape for reporters.</description>
