The party was founded in December 1971 in Colorado. Currently, 603 Libertarians hold public office. So far the Libertarian party is on the ballot in 27 states in 2004. In the past three presidential elections, the Libertarian party was on the ballot in all 50 states. The day's agenda calls for: nomination of party candidate for president; nomination of party candidate for vice president; ratification of the national campaign platform; and election of the party chair. The party chose Mr. Badnarik as its 2004 presidential candidate.
