      <title>Fiscal Health of Federal Housing Authority (FHA)</title>
      <description>Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, a Government Accountability representative, and housing experts testified at a hearing on the fiscal health of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). The hearing arose because of an FHA report to Congress on its current budget situation, which revealed that if the housing market continues to worsen, the agency is at risk of needing federal help. Secretary Donovan in his testimony that the FHA is not in need of a bailout thus far. He added that the reserve fund is being monitored closely, risks are being assessed, and steps are being taken to protect taxpayers.</description>

      <title>Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Assessment</title>
      <description>Raj Date, special adviser to the Treasury Department for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), testified the agency's accomplishments in its first 100 days. Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus called for more oversight of the agency suggesting it could "easily become a loose cannon." Mr. Date countered saying "Talk is cheap....look at what we do." The CFPB officially began work on July 21, 2011 assuming oversight of consumer finance regulations from other federal agencies.</description>
