      <title>Supreme Court Health Care Law Decision, Part 1</title>
      <description>C-SPAN camera operators taped the sights and sounds of the crowd gathered outside the Supreme Court building for a decision on the Affordable Care Act, the 2010 health care law. A live feed of SCOTUSblog.com comments was shown as lawyers read through the decision. Telephone lines were open for viewer calls and electronic communications, and members of Congress reacted to the ruling.
The Court upheld the entire law but did issue some limits on the Medicaid portion of the bill.</description>

      <title>Supreme Court Nomination Special</title>
      <description>Michael Doyle spoke about President Obama's nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor as a replacement for Justice David Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court. The announcement, made earlier in the day, was shown as part of the special program and Mr. Doyle responded to telephone calls and questions sent electronically. He spoke about Judge Sotomayor's career, her decisions as an appeals court judge, and reaction to the nomination by various interest groups and lawmakers. Mark Hamblett reported by telephone about the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Video clips shown included Senator Patrick Leahy on the floor of the Senate in 1998 and Judge Sotomayor questioning an attorney in [Arar v. Ashcroft] on December 12, 2008.</description>

      <description>Senator Charles Schumer and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich debated their policy priorities at an event called "America's Future: Two Visions, Two Books, Two Parties."  Speaker Gingrich talked about his ideas which are expressed in his 2005 book [Winning the Future: A 21st Century Contract with America]. Senator Schumer talked about his new book [Positively American: Winning Back the Middle Class Majority One Family at a Time], in which he spells out his political vision for Democrats. After their presentations, the two men responded to audience members' questions. 
 
 As chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Senator Charles Schumer oversaw his party's successful 2006 bid to reclaim control of the Senate. Former House Speaker (1995-1998) Newt Gingrich managed his party's reclaiming of House control in the 1994 elections.</description>
