      <description>In the thirty-first in a series on American presidents, scholars and historians discussed the life and career of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Among the issues they addressed were his early political career, his battle with polio, the New Deal and the Great Depression, and his leadership in World War II. They also discussed the life and career of Eleanor Roosevelt. Throughout the program various sites associated with the Roosevelts were shown. A student from Roosevelt High School was interviewed by telephone and guests responded to viewer comments and questions.</description>
