The Presidency: Challenge and Change

Mr. Sidey spoke about the evolution of the presidency over his long career in journalism. He examined the idea that many presidents who led the country during troubled times have been recognized as great but that those who were wise enough to lead less actively during relatively untroubled times in U.S. history are not recognized for their achievements. He also stressed the need for a balance between brilliance and common sense. This was part of a historical lecture series on the three branches of government.
