      <title>Presidential Leadership and Military Advice in a Crisis</title>
      <description>Former Ambassador Donald Gregg spoke about U.S. national security policy and his experiences advising the president. He compared the challenges faced by the Kennedy administration to those facing the Obama administration and he spoke about a wide variety of issues including the inside story of the decisions to bomb Vietnam, the future of Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan, the torture of the American hostages in Iran, the effects of WikiLeaks, and his relationship with civilian and military leaders.
This event was sponsored by the Program in Leadership Studies, the Stanley Kaplan Program in American Foreign Policy, and the International Studies Program at Williams College. It was held in Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall in the Bernhard Music Center on the Williams College Campus.</description>

      <title>Future of the Korean Peninsula</title>
      <description>Ambassador Lee and Assistant Secretary Hill delivered remarks at the inaugural event for the U.S.-Korea Institute. Topics included the launch of the U.S.-Korea Institute, the North Korean nuclear program, the six-party process, peace and security in Northeast Asia, and furthering U.S.-South Korea relations.
 
 Following those remarks, five former U.S. ambassadors to South Korea discussed the future of the Korean Peninsula. They were moderated by Mr. Oberdorfer. Topics included the China-North Korea relationship, free trade agreements, Japan-Korea difficulties, and the North Korean nuclear program and its purported October 9 underground nuclear test. There was no question-and-answer session.
 
 Mr. Oberdorfer is the author of [The Two Koreas: A Contemporary History.]
 Assistant Secretary Hill is a former ambassador to South Korea.</description>
