      <description>Professors Leo Panitch and Sam Gindin talked about their book, [The Making of Global Capitalism: The Political Economy of American Empire], in which they argue that since WWII the U.S. government has been critical in expanding capitalism around the world, leading to a kind of informal empire that relies far more on the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury than it does the Pentagon and CIA. They spoke about their book at Town Hall in Seattle and responded to questions from the audience.</description>
