      <title>Veterans' Organizations Legislative Priorities</title>
      <description>Witnesses testified on the legislative priorities of veterans' service organizations.
Senator Lugar introduced James Koutz, the new national commander of the American Legion, who presented the report of a survey done by the American Legion on veteran issues, such as the poor quality of medical care for women veterans, long processing times for veterans' claims, and getting veterans back to work. Verna Jones and Peter Gaytan also responded to questions. Also present, but not speaking, were Ben Governor and Mike Helms.</description>

      <title>American Legion Women Veterans Survey</title>
      <description>Participants spoke about the results of a study on gender-specific health services within the Veterans Affairs system. The study found that more than half of women veterans rated the sexual trauma services at those facilities as inadequate. Among those speaking about the findings were officials from the consulting company that conducted the survey, as well as American Legion officials. This new conference was part of the American Legion's annual Washington conference.</description>
