      <description>Douglas Wissing talked about [Funding the Enemy: How U.S. Taxpayers Bankroll the Taliban], his book detailing his assertion that much of the U.S. taxpayer money spent in Afghanistan is diverted to the Taliban. He called Afghan President Hamid Karzai's government "wholly corrupt," and cited examples of U.S. government spending projects that wind their way through a mostly corrupt bidding process by Afghan contractors.He also described his experiences as an embedded journalist with five National Guard units. 
Douglas Wissing is an independent journalist and author. He studied history and political science at Indiana University. He is the author of five other books including [Pioneer in Tibet: The Life and Perils of Dr. Albert Shelton]. He has contributed to the [New York Times], the [Los Angeles Times], [National Geographic Traveler], and NPR networks, among others. He is married with two grown sons, and resides in Bloomington, Indiana.</description>
