      <title>Iraqi Refugee Crisis</title>
      <description>Members of the first panel talked about the difficulties that Iraqi refugees face. One refugee, who is now in the U.S. and asked not to be identified, told of her more than two year struggle to obtain a visa. Other panelists discussed topics such as  food, medicine, and housing.
 
 Members of the second panel described their experiences in trying to help refugees. Ambassadors from Jordan and Syria answered questions about the refugee situation in their respective countries. Jordan and Syria have the most Iraqi refugees. 
 
 "The Iraqi Refugee Crisis: Law, Policy and Practice" was the subject of the Second Annual Matthew J. Ryan Forum on Law and Public Policy.</description>

Officials detailed conditions for refugees, internally displaced persons and asylum seekers in 131 countries, and Senator Brownback also spoke.       <title>Kosovo Refugee Situation</title>
      <description>Refugees from the Kosovo region of Yugoslavia testified to the atrocities committed by Serbian forces who were either killing or forcibly deporting Kosovar Albanians from their homes and villages. They said that they were grateful for NATO bombing, since it provided the only protection as they tried to flee. Ms. Taft then testified to the scope of the refugee problem and about the humanitarian efforts underway in Albania and Macedonia. Mr. Frelick and Ms. Greenwood testified to the continued need for massive humanitarian action still needed to relieve the problem.</description>
