      <title>First Lady Michelle Obama on Obesity</title>
      <description>Michelle Obama, Surgeon General Benjamin and others spoke about prevention of obesity. They also focused on a new campaign led by the surgeon general that included $650 million in economic stimulus money in wellness and prevention programs aimed at obesity and stopping smoking. Mrs. Obama said the solution to the obesity epidemic cannot come from government alone, and that everyone must be willing to do their part to end the public health crisis.</description>

      <title>Child Health Issues</title>
      <description>Committee members heard testimony from two Senators Hatch and Specter, Secretary Shalala, Governor Dean and health care experts. They testified about the health needs of children and how these can be addressed through governmental and community partnership. Senators Specter and Hatch have sponsored different pieces of legislation to provide health care for currently uninsured children and Vermont has a state program to insure all children under the age of 18. Senator Specter's bill would cover about 4 million children through vouchers to the states for families that earn up to 2.35 times the poverty level from discretionary spending. Senator Hatch's legislation would provide coverage through federal block grants to the state funded by an increase in taxes on tobacco.</description>
