"Women of National Influence" was a panel at the Tucson Festival of Books in the Gallagher Theater of the Student Union on the campus of the University of Arizona.</description>

      <title>Attorney General Nomination Hearing, Day 3</title>
      <description>In the third day of hearings on the nomination of Senator Ashcroft to be attorney general, proponents and opponents of the nomination testified about his voting record, ideology and ability to carry out the duties of the office. 
 
 Judge White testified that Senator Ashcroft had willfully distorted his record as a Missouri judge during Senate debate over his appointment to the federal judiciary, saying the senator's remarks were unwarranted and had damaged his reputation.
 
 In other panels, colleagues and acquaintances talked about Senator Ashcroft's record as Missouri governor and attorney general, his views on social issues such as abortion, and his integrity.</description>

      <description>Members heard testimony concerning the need for and execution of a certain type of abortion procedure. This hearing was held partially in response to the admission by a pro-choice advocate that this procedure is performed more often and under less dire circumstances than he previously had testified. Advocates on both sides of the abortion issue, as well as a panel of women who have undergone the procedure testified about whether or not it should be legal and why.</description>
