      <title>U.S. Population Projections</title>
      <description>Jennifer Ortman and William Frey talked about anticipated U.S. population changes over the next half-century, and they responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. The Census Bureau released a report with projections showing a considerably older and more racially and ethnically diverse nation by 2060. These population projections by age, sex, race and origin, are the first set of population projections based on the 2010 Census. They also discussed policy ramifications of this population growth, including government spending on social programs, immigration, politics, and the effect of the 2008-09 recession.

      <title>Minority Population Projections</title>
      <description>William Frey talked about yesterday's release by the Census Bureau of figures which project that minorities, now about one-third of the U.S. population, are expected to become a majority by 2042 and be 54 percent of U.S. residents               by 2050. The nation's population will also be significantly older by that time. Current U.S. population is now 302 million, and is expected to reach 439 million
