2004 Election Night Coverage

Live coverage of election results and election night activities was shown throughout the evening. At the end of the telecast no winner of the presidential election had been established with outstanding results in Ohio, Iowa, and New Mexico.

Coverage included victory and concession speeches from state, federal, and presidential races; periods of open telephones for viewer reaction to unfolding results and events; and interviews with journalists and analysts. Several portions were provided by local television news.

Graphics in the lower-third of the screen showed actual election results in various races tabulated by the Associated Press. In cases where a clear winner was established a check mark next to the name indicated a win.
