      <description>The Center for American Progress (CAP) and the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) co-hosted an event commemorating the 15th anniversary of 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, focusing on the actions taken by President Clinton and Congress since the bombing. Michael Reyes, a former worker at the Murrah Federal Building, spoke about his experiences on the day of the bombing.
Bill Clinton spoke about how violence against the government and the anti-government views led to the 1995 bombing as well as the current anti-government mood of the country. He said he planned to be in Oklahoma City for a 15th anniversary ceremony on April 19, the actual anniversary date. Following his remarks, a panel moderated by Ron Brownstein expanded on the themes of the President Clinton's remarks and responded to questions from the audience.</description>

 This was the first in a series of bipartisan "Congress Debates" between members of Congress to explore issues facing the country. The series was sponsored by the House Democratic Caucus and the House Republican Conference in cooperation with the Democratic Leadership Council and the Congressional Institute. The event was held in the Jack Morton Auditorium at George Washington University.</description>

Mr. Brownstein contended that America is at a dangerous impasse and offers ideas for achieving consensus on the challenges the nation faces today. He answered questions from the audience.
 
 Ronald Brownstein is political director of Atlantic Media Company, publishers of the [Atlantic], [National Journal], and [The Hotline]. Mr. Brownstein was previously the chief political correspondent for the [Los Angeles Times] and was a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist for his coverage of presidential elections.</description>

      <title>A Nation at Risk Panel Discussion</title>
      <description>In commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the National Commission on Excellence in Education report, "A Nation at Risk," the U.S. Department of Education hosted a panel discussion on the state of the American public school system. When first published, the report caused controversy because it warned of a "rising tide of mediocrity" in education that would endanger the country's future. The panelists discuss two books written in response to the twenty years of reform following the report. These two groups, moderated by Mr. Brownstein, will discuss what has been accomplished and what needs to be accomplished, offering rival views on how to improve American education. Deputy Secretary Hansen will speak preceding the discussion.
