      <title>The Economic Effects of Military Spending</title>
      <description>Panelists aruged the impact on the U.S. economy of automatic military spending reductions. As part of the Budget Control Act of 2011, across-the-board federal budget spending cuts, known as sequestration, were to take effect in January 2013 unless Congress could agree to a new budget. They also discussed sequestration in relation to ongoing broader partisan political disputes over tax policy and the federal budget, and the outcome of 2012 congressional and presidential elections and the lame duck session of Congress. The program included questions from audience members.</description>

      <title>Clean and Renewable Energy</title>
      <description>Panelists discussed the merits of renewable energy. Tim Considine and Benjamin Zycher presented the results of their recent research into the challenges and consequences of using renewable energy, mainly arguing against it for economic and reliability reasons. Kate Gordon and Jimmy Glotfelty provided counterpoints on the research. Mr. Glotfelty advocated the importance of wind energy production and its low cost. Kate Gordon argued for the need for clean energy investment. Afterward, they answered questions from audience members.</description>

In the panel discussion on U.S. oil imports, representatives of energy policy groups and economic scholars debated whether oil imports were advantageous or harmful to the nation's energy policy. Following their prepared remarks, panel members responded to questions from members of the audience on oil imports.</description>
