The phone call was part of the investigation into allegations of sexual harassment lodged against Judge Thomas, who President Bush had nominated to the Supreme Court earlier in the year. The allegations prompted three days of additional confirmation hearings and a delay in the Senate's vote to confirm Judge Thomas. In the phone call, Ms. Wright responded to questions from the staff members concerning her experiences working under Judge Thomas in the 1980's.
