      <title>Telephone Solicitation</title>
      <description>The subcommittee heard testimony on legislation regulating telephone transmissions in the U.S., including unsolicited computer voice calls and long distance services billing procedures. Witnesses included representatives of consumer groups and long distance telephone service companies. The legislation discussed in the hearing would grant consumers a greater ability to prevent unsolicited telemarketing calls to their telephone numbers.</description>
