Military Dimensions of National Security

The American Assembly held a forum on "The Military Dimensions of National Security," during the second day of its public policy forum on America's national security. The American Assembly brings together approximately 60 leaders in government and public policy to discuss a current topic in public policy for five days in the Arden House in Harriman, New York. Through a consensus building process, the forum reaches conclusions on public policy issues which are published by the American Assembly after the conference and distributed widely to public policy leaders around the nation. Panel members discussed the extent of American military influence around the world, and proposed strategies for the U.S. military as the global political climate changes after the end of the Persian Gulf war and the Cold War.
