 On Wednesday, November 3, 1987, President Ford delivered a concession speech after losing the 1976 presidential election to Jimmy Carter. He spoke with his family standing behind him. Mrs. Ford also spoke, thanking all their campaign supporters. 
 
 On Thursday, December 28, 2006, former Senator John Edwards (D-NC) announced his candidacy for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination in New Orleans, Louisiana.
 
 On Wednesday, December 27, 2006, former Senator John Edwards (D-NC) assisted in the reconstruction of a home damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
 
 On Sunday, December 17, 2006, Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) attended the Merrimack County Democrats Holiday Party held in the home of State Rep. Christine Hamm (D) in Hopkinton, New Hampshire.

      <description>Participants in the events talked about President Ford's decision to pardon Richard Nixon for his involvement in the Watergate scandal. Topics included the possibility of a deal between Ford and Nixon, the pardon negotiations, and Nixon's acceptance of the pardon. The program opened with a video clip of Dan Rather's September 8, 1974, newscast that showed President Ford going to church and then his Oval Office address that evening granting the pardon.
