Re-Trial of Mary Surratt

The April 1865 plot to assassinate President Lincoln was planned in part at a boarding house owned and operated by Mary Surratt. They both asserted their confidence that Mayor Kilpatrick would ultimately be found not guilty. The charges resulted from an investigation after sexually explicit text messages surfaced that appear to contradict Mayor Kilpatrick's sworn denials of an affair with Christine Beatty, his former chief of staff.
