Future of Journalism

Neil Budde, who has 30 years of experience working for newspapers and online
publishers, talked about the future of journalism. He talked about how news has changed in the past 20 years with the introduction of the internet and the beginning of the digital era. He said not to overestimate the short term impacts of new technology and not to underestimate the long term impacts. He discussed how the internet is changing news from mass media to micromedia, and the long term effects this will have on media business models. He thinks that these changes will give journalism a much broader reach in the future. Following his prepared remarks he answered questions from members of the audience.
