      <description>Opponents of same-sex marriage gathered on the National Mall to show their support for the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Organizer Brian Brown said that the march reflected "the unity and diversity of the pro-marriage movement." Religious figures, conservative advocacy groups and a variety of other organizations joined the rally on the first day of two oral arguments before the Supreme Court on same-sex marriage cases.</description>

      <description>The Task Force on New Americans released its final report to President Bush, [Building an Americanization Movement for the Twenty-first Century]. Members of the task force discussed their recommendations, including launching a national campaign to strengthen immigrant integration into American civic culture. The task force found that successful integration involves a message of inclusion that emphasizes American civic principles and welcomes people from all backgrounds to fully become American. 
 
 The Task Force on New Americans is an interagency initiative, led by the Department of Homeland Security, to help immigrants learn English, embrace the common core of American civic culture, and fully become American.</description>
