      <description>The first night of the 2012 Democratic National Convention included presentation of the party platform for a final vote by delegates. Speakers included former President Jimmy Carter, who spoke via pre-recorded video. San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro gave the keynote address, and First Lady Michelle Obama closed out the evening, introduced by a video which included many friends and many members of her family.</description>

McCain featuring rapper Daddy Yankee, multiple political rallies for Sen. Obama, a tribute to Sen. Kennedy, an interview with adviser Valerie Jarrett, and a symposium on the role of race in the presidential election.</description>
