It was noted that some 300,000 homes were damaged or destroyed. The group was led by Kansas Republican Jim Ryun. A C-SPAN video journalist traveled with the congressional delegation. In addition to Governor Blanco, the group received information from Air Force, Corps of Engineers, Coast Guard, Louisiana National Guard and other personnel.
