      <title>Collective Bargaining in Professional Sports</title>
      <description>Executive Directors for professional football and basketball players' labor unions talked about collective bargaining rights in sports. National Basketball Players Association director Billy Hunter said that if he had to bet on it, he would wager that the NBA lockout would cost the league the entire 2011-12 season. The NBA locked out its players on July 1st after a recent labor deal expired and then filed a claim against the National Basketball Players Union for unfair labor practices. The NFL had ended a lockout by agreeing to a 10-year deal though collective bargaining ending disputes over splitting revenue and players' rights.</description>

      <title>Steroid Testing in Sports</title>
      <description>The Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing on steroid testing for athletes in professional sports. The hearing focused on H.R. 1862, the Drug Free Sports Act. The legislation would direct the Secretary of Commerce to issue rules requiring professional sports to adopt and enforce steroid drug testing policies. The subcommittee heard testimony on the proposed legislation from the commissioners of the National Football League, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League.</description>
