      <title>Book Discussion on [Churchill and America]</title>
      <description>Sir Martin Gilbert talked about his book [Churchill and America], published by McClelland and Stewart. Martin Gilbert has been Sir Winston Churchill's official biographer since 1968 and has written numerous books about the life and times of Churchill. In this book, Martin Gilbert explained Winston Churchill's enduring personal and political connection to the U.S., beginning with his birth in Brooklyn to an American mother, and continuing throughout his life. Churchill's last words to the Cabinet before retirement were, "Never be separated from the Americans."  Following his presentation, Sir Gilbert responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.</description>

      <title>Book Discussion on [The Republican War on Science]</title>
      <description>Chris Mooney talked about his book [The Republican War on Science], published by Basic Books. In his book, Chris Mooney critiqued the current administration's environmental policy. He argued that several energy companies that have allied themselves with the Bush administration are responsible for interfering with efforts to curb mercury pollution and global warming. Following his remarks, Mr. Mooney responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.</description>

      <title>Book Discussion on [The Pinochet File]</title>
      <description>Peter Kornbluh talked about the book he edited, [The Pinochet File:  A Declassified Dossier on Atrocity and Accountability], published by New Press. The book draws information from recently declassified files containing information on Chilean dictator General Augusto Pinochet. The book, published on the 30th anniversary of General Pinochet's military coup, contains many of the secret records detailing U.S. government complicity with Pinochet. The narrative includes transcripts of Nixon, Kissinger and other cabinet members discussing how to dismantle the pro-Marxist Allende government. White House cables welcoming General Pinochet to power and CIA, National Security Council and State Department reports on the September 1976 car bombing deaths of Orlando Letelier and Ronni Moffitt are also included. Following his presentation, Mr. Kornbluh answered questions from the audience.</description>
