      <title>Obama Administration Climate Change Policy</title>
      <description>Eileen Claussen outlined actions the Obama administration could take to address global climate change with and without Congress. Issues included new rules on power plant emissions, fuel standards for heavy duty trucks, and improving energy efficiency at federal buildings. Topics included the role of business and prospects for international progress. Ms. Claussen was interviewed by Ms. Arroyo. Others participated from the audience.
This was the luncheon program of a Georgetown University Climate Center state-federal workshop titled, "Promoting Low-Carbon Solutions and a Resilient Future Together."</description>

      <title>Moderate Republicans and the Rise of the Tea Party</title>
      <description>Election scholars spoke about growing division and partisanship in the political culture over the past few decades, with a focus on divisions in the Republican Party leading to declining influence by moderate Republicans. Panelists from both sides of the issue examined recent elections showing how both the Republican and Democratic Parties had become more clearly divided into liberal and conservative camps. President Nixon, according to the panel, was the last true moderate, but his contributions are largely ignored because of the Watergate scandal.</description>
