      <title>Book Discussion on [Viper Pilot]</title>
      <description>Author and retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Dan Hampton discussed his book, [Viper Pilot: A Memoir of Air Combat]. Mr. Hampton talked about his experiences in the U.S. Air Force from 1986 to 2006, during which time he flew more than 150 combat missions. He flew missions during the Iraq War, the Kosovo conflict, and first Gulf War, and received four Distinguished Flying Crosses with Valor, a Purple Heart, and eight Air Medals with Valor during his career.</description>

      <title>The B-52 Bomber</title>
      <description>Barksdale Air Force Base has been home to one of the largest B-52 bomber fleets in the U.S. military. Air Force officers talked about the history of the B-52 at Barksdale AFB and the current B-52 operations there. A pilot gave a tour of a B-52. 
C-SPAN's Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their "2012 LCV Cities Tour" in Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 6-9 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast local cable affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.</description>

      <title>Sexual Misconduct Allegations at Lackland Air Force Base</title>
      <description>Witnesses testified on allegations of sexual misconduct by basic training instructors at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. General Mark Welsh, Air Force chief of staff, said the service was committed to getting rid of sexual misconduct within its ranks and the problem had become a "cancer" for the Air Force. General Edward Rice provided an update on the investigation. The second panel included first-hand accounts of being sexually assaulted from retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Cindy McNally and former Air Force Technical Sergeant Jennifer Norris. David Lisak spoke about his work as a forensic consultant on rape cases in the military.</description>

      <description>Witnesses testified on the problem of pilots becoming dizzy from oxygen deprivation while flying the Air Force supersonic F-22 Raptor aircraft. They talked about reports and consequences of respiratory and neurological problems experienced by pilots. They also talked about the results of a study by an independent review team from NASA which supported the Air Force's conclusions. The subcommittee debated whether the jet was suitable to fly, while witnesses, including Major General Charles Lyon, insisted that the $350 million jet was safe.</description>

      <title>U.S. Air Force Issues</title>
      <description>Alice Hunt talked about the the status of the Air Force. On June 5, 2008,  Defense Secretary Gates announced the resignations of U.S. Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne and Chief of Staff General Michael Moseley because of significant and systematic errors in the oversight, accountability and monitoring of nuclear weaponry. Ms. Hunt talked about the reasons for their resignations, the tension between the Air Force and of office of the Department of Defense, and Secretary Gates' recommendation of General Norton Schwartz as Air Force chief of staff and Michael Donley as Air Force Secretary. Topics included the mission of the Air Force and the tensions between different groups in the force. Ms. Hunt wrote an op-ed in the [Star Telegram] on the topic earlier in the week. She responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.</description>
