      <description>Brandt Goldstein talked about his book [Storming the Court:  How a Band of Yale Law Students Sued the President--and Won], published by Scribner. The book told the story of a team of Yale law students and other human rights activists led by Professor Harold Koh who in 1992 sought to enjoin the government from detaining over 6000 Haitian refugees indefinitely at GuantÃ¡namo Bay, without charges or access to counsel. 
 
 Mr. Goldstein, Ms. Daugaard and Professor Wishnie were among the students who joined Dean Koh in the 1992 case, which was heard by Judge Johnson. Following Mr. Goldstein's remarks, the panelists discussed the background and effect of the decision. During the discussion, video footage was shown of President Clinton and others speaking about the situation in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After their remarks, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.

Lesly Jacques, host of 980 AM WHSR Radio in Pompano Beach, Florida, talked by telephone on the situation in Haiti. This radio station has been dedicated to the Haitian community in South Florida and served as a clearinghouse for information regarding the on-going operations in Haiti. He talked about the information he has been getting and the response of those in Florida.
Thomas Naylor, co-founder of the Second Vermont Republic, talked by telephone from Charlotte, Vermont, on the upcoming election. Mr. Naylor co-founded a think-tank dedicated to seeing Vermont secede from the United States, and nine candidates are dedicated to the same idea. The candidates are running for governor, lieutenant governor, and seven seats in the state senate.</description>
