 President Clinton nominated Justice Ginsburg to the Supreme Court on June 14, 1993. The Senate confirmed her nomination on August 3, 1993 with a vote of 96 in favor, 3 opposed. Justice Ginsburg was named to succeed retired Supreme Court Justice Byron White.</description>
