David Pietrusza talked about [1960: LBJ vs. JFK vs. Nixon: The Epic Campaign That Forged Three Presidencies] (Union Square Press; September 2, 2008). In his book he recounts the presidential campaign and election of 1960 from the contest for the Democratic nomination between John F. Mr. Pietrusza profiles each politician and examines how the onset of television and the rising influence of presidential primaries impacted the election. Following his remarks he responded to questions from members of the audience.
David Pietrusza is the author of several books, including [1920: The Year of the Six Presidents] and [Rothstein: The Life, Times and Murder of the Criminal Genius Who Fixed the 1919 World Series].

In the first nationally televised vice presidential debate, Senators Mondale and Dole debate domestic and foreign policy issues. In this debate each candidate had 2 minutes and 15 seconds to answer and rebut and 1 minute to respond. But contested returns in Florida, Louisiana and South Carolina, as well as a legal issue in Oregon, eventually led to a 15-member congressional commission awarding Hayes all 20 contested electoral votes, giving him a one-vote victory in the Electoral College.
