Book Discussion on [We Are Doomed: Reclaiming Conservative Pessimism]

John Derbyshire talked about his book [We Are Doomed: Reclaiming Conservative Pessimism] (Crown Forum; September 29, 2009). If they had maintained their gloom, the author says, few would have been seduced by promises of hope and change, and Barack Obama would not have won the White House. After his presentation he responded to questions from members of the audience. He was then joined in debate by Fox News Channel host Alan Colmes, who also responded to questions.
John Derbyshire is a [National Review] columnist and contributing editor.
