He said that Wyoming was very strong compared to other states and listed accomplishments in technology, energy resources, and tourism. He stated his opposition to the Affordable Care Act and asked lawmakers to consider whether to take the 50 million dollars in federal funding to expand Medicaid in the state.

      <description>Sen. Mike Enzi and Dr. Chris Rothfuss debated for the general election for the Wyoming Senate. This was the first of three debates the candidates engaged in. The debate was held in the WYOP TV studio. The questions were previously created by Wyoming voters.
 
 The 2008 Senate election in Wyoming was unique due to both Senate seats being up for election  simultaneously as a result of the death of Sen. Thomas in 2007. In order to fill Sen. Thomas's seat, a special election was called. This program showed the debate for the general election.</description>
