 President-Elect Obama also spoke about financial aid to the automotive industry and the arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. In answers to several questions on the governor's arrest he said that he never spoke to Governor Blagojevich about replacing him in the U.S. Senate, nor had his transition staff been involved in any deal-making about the Senate appointment.</description>

      <title>Political Legacies of Adlai Stevenson</title>
      <description>The panelists talked about the political legacy of Adlai Stevenson II, Illinois governor and presidential contender against Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. They said that he left a mark on national politics that influenced decades of U.S. diplomacy. Stevenson is best know for advocating better politics of diplomacy, promoting the role of the United Nations for assisting the third world and mitigating conflict, and pushing for more international oversight of nuclear weapons to reduce the risk of nuclear conflict. Each having contributed an essay to a new book titled [Adlai Stevenson's Lasting Legacy], the speakers talked about politics in Stevenson's time where peace and cooperation seemingly were the primary objectives. They also discussed the political legacies of Adlai Stevenson and the application of his ideas to the world today. The panelists responded to audience members' questions.
 
 This program will be moderated by U.S. Administrative Law Judge Alvin Liebling, editor of [Adlai Stevenson's Lasting Legacy], published by Palgrave Macmillan.
