Book Discussion on [The Pipes Plan]

Sally Pipes argued against President Obama's health care initiative and presented her own plan to restructure the American health care system. Ms. Pipes contended that the government's current plan would neither lower health care costs nor assist in reducing the number of uninsured Americans. The author's 10-step plan, includes allowing consumers to acquire health insurance across state lines to increase competition and decrease costs and a repeal of the taxes on medical and pharmaceutical companies which, according to the author, hurt investment in new products. Sally Pipes was joined in discussion by Michael Tanner, author of [Bad Medicine: A Guide to the Real Costs and Consequences of the Health Care Law] and Grace-Marie Turner, co-author of [Why ObamaCare Is Wrong for America]. The panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. Ms. Owcharenko moderated.
