      <title>Michelle Obama on Childhood Obesity Prevention</title>
      <description>First Lady Michelle Obama and C-SPAN StudentCam Contest First Prize Middle School Winner Matthew Shimura talked about fighting childhood obesity, the subject of Matthew's video and part of Mrs. Obama Let's Move initiative. In addition, Mrs. Obama took calls from other students who submitted StudentCam videos about obesity.
Matthew attends the Punahou School in Honolulu, HI, a K-12 school. It is the largest coeducational, independent school on a single campus in the United States. President Barack Obama also attended Punahou School from 1971 to 1979 during his childhood years in Hawaii.
C-SPAN Classroom's StudentCam video documentary contest was a national competition in which middle and high school students produced a documentary focusing on one of the country's strengths or a challenge the country is facing.</description>

      <title>Book Discussion on [The End of Overeating]</title>
      <description>Former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner David Kessler talked about his book [The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite] (Rodale Books; April 28, 2009). He explained how, since the 1980s, the food and advertising industries, in combination with lifestyle changes, have reprogrammed American bodies and minds by too much sugar, salt, and fat into conditioned hypereating. He offered a program to rehabilitate an entire country of people who are gaining weight and getting sick. Dr. Kessler also commented on the regulation of tobacco by the FDA. He responded to questions from members of the audience.
 
 David Kessler has been the dean of the medical schools of Yale University and the University of California, San Francisco. He served as commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration under Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, from 1990 to 1997. Dr. Kessler is a graduate of Amherst College, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Chicago Law School.</description>

C-SPAN's StudentCam is an annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think seriously about issues that affect our communities and our nation. Students are asked to create a short (5-8 minute) video documentary on one of the country's greatest strengths or a challenge the country is facing. The local cable company was Time Warner Cable.
Laura Hayman, University of Massachusetts College of Nursing and Health Services Associate Dean of Research, followed the interview by video uplink from Boston, Massachusetts and talked about the issue of childhood obesity and the current efforts to alleviate the problem.       <description>Governor Huckabee, who was introduced by Mr. Dunham, spoke at a National Press Club Newsmaker luncheon titled "Healthy America: Wellness Where We Work, Live, and Learn."  He talked about how poor diet and lack of exercise contribute to the premature deaths of thousands of Americans each year. The governor discussed how the Southern style of frying all foods, including twinkies, had led to his being overweight. Governor Huckabee lost 110 pounds since 2003, when he was diagnosed with type-2 diabetes. He said that the culture of Americans towards obesity had to change and likened this to the recent change in culture regarding smokers. 
 
 Following his remarks, Governor Huckabee responded to questions and comments submitted by members of the audience. He talked about Hurricanes Rita and Katrina relief efforts as well as obesity in America.</description>
