      <title>Dayton Accords and the Future of Diplomacy</title>
      <description>Former President Clinton made introductory remarks before a panel of officials during his administration talked about the 1995 Dayton Accords that ended the war in Bosnia. They also talked about current challenges to U.S. foreign policy, global diplomacy, and the conflict resolution process. Mr. Brownstein moderated.
"America at a Crossroads: The Dayton Accords and the Beginning of 21st Century Diplomacy" was an event marking the 15-year anniversary of the peace agreement that ended the war in Bosnia. It was held February 9, 2011, by the Clinton Foundation in the Kimmel Center at New York University.</description>

Among the topics he discussed were the regional inclusiveness, use of time, and prevention. After Ambassador Ischinger left, Ambassador Rizzo and Representative Ashdown spoke about the path to European Union and NATO integration for Bosnia. High Representative Ashdown also spoke about international stewardship and the Office of the High Representative transition. Following his remarks, he responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.</description>

      <title>10th Anniversary of Dayton Agreement</title>
      <description>The current three-member rotating presidency representing Muslims, Croats, and Serbs spoke at the 10th Anniversary of signing of the Dayton Accords. Ivo Miro Jovic was elected as the Croat member of Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) tripartite presidency on 9 May 2005. He replaced Dragan Covic, who was removed from the position on 29 March by International High Representative Paddy Ashdown. Sulejman Tihic became the Muslim member of the tripartite presidency on 28 October 2002, following general elections in the country on 5 October 2002. Borislav Paravac was confirmed as the Serb member of the tripartite presidency on 10 April 2003, filling the post left vacant by the resignation of Mirko Sarovic.
 
 Interpreters translated the tri-partite presidents' remarks to English.</description>

They discussed U.S. military operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and rebuilding efforts there. They addressed the need to "mount a credible effort to apprehend indicted war criminals."  They also discussed the emergence of Islamic terrorist groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina and other threats to establishing lasting peace in the reasons. The witnesses responded to questions from committee members.</description>

They talked about the life and political career of Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic. He was indicted for war crimes in 1998 by the United Nations' International Criminal Tribunal. Topics included his role in the propagation of Serbian nationalistic rhetoric and his role in the Bosnian peace process. They also talked about current issues in the area and foreign policies for the future. They answered questions from members of the audience.</description>

      <description>Beginning at about 1:50 p.m., members debated supplemental appropriations legislation for disaster relief and military operations in the Persian Gulf and Bosnia and corresponding rescissions. Many opponents criticized the Republican for programs which were cut, including literacy programs and Americorps, and for the Republican failure to bring forward another supplemental bill for International Monetary Fund funding. The House passed the bill by a 212 to 208 vote.</description>
