Mr. Naylor talked about his book, [Not a Good Day to Die: The Untold Story of Operation Anaconda], published by Berkley. Mr. Naylor was joined by Mr. Kagan and Mr. Sepp in a discussion moderated by Mr. Donnelly, following which they answered audience members' questions.

Professor Kagan is the author of [While America Sleeps: Self-Delusion, Military Weakness, and the Threat to Peace Today]. Professor Sepp has co-authored an official study of U.S. Army special operations in the Afghanistan expedition.

Unified Command Structure

Secretary Rumsfeld and General Myers spoke to reporters about a plan to reorganize the military in order to meet contemporary and future threats to national security. The plan included provisions to establish a U.S. Northern Command, responsible for the defense and protection of the U.S. homeland. They also talked about military operations in Afghanistan, saying that the failure to commit U.S. troops to operations in the Tora Bora region were a mistake because the decision allowed Osama bin Laden to escape the country. Following their remarks they answered questions from the reporters.

After Secretary Rumsfeld and General Myers left the stage, Mr. Cambone and General Casey showed charts and continued answering reporters' questions.
