      <title>Armenian Genocide</title>
      <description>Andrew Goldberg discussed his movie, [The Armenian Genocide]. He talked about the Armenian Genocide, speaking on the events leading up to it, the internal politics that allowed the genocide to happen, and the implications of the genocide on both Turkish and global affairs. He talked about the lack of awareness of the Armenian Genocide in education and media.
 
 Students introduced themselves and discussed the portrayal of genocide in the media. The students are from around the nation, participating in the Close Up Foundation's week-long government studies program.

      <description>Bryan Ardouny talked from an Armenian perspective about the Armenian Genocide Resolution passed during the previous week by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Teh resolution labels the World War I-era killings of Armenians by Turks as genocide. He also talked about the impact of the resolution on relations between Turkey and the U.S. Mr. Ardouny responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.</description>

      <description>Participating by telephone, Glenn Kessler reported that President Bush opposes a House resolution that labeles as genocide the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Armenians 90 years ago. The legislation says that the former Ottoman Empire killed as many as 1.5 million persons.</description>

      <title>Book Discussion on [The Armenian Massacres in Ottoman Turkey:  A Disputed Genocide]</title>
      <description>Professor Lewy talked about his book [The Armenian Massacres in Ottoman Turkey:  A Disputed Genocide], published by University of Utah Press. He described the Armenian Massacre of 1915 which took place in the Eastern part of the Ottoman Empire during World War I. He examined both the Turkish and Armenian sides of the conflict and proposed that a number of the Armenian deaths were caused by illness and starvation during their relocation to the mountainous regions of Turkey. He explained the contrasting opinions of incidents during the conflict and compared the events of the Armenian massacre to those of the Holocaust. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions.</description>

      <title>Book Discussion on [Forgotten Fire]</title>
      <description>Adam Bagdasarian talked about the basis of his book, [Forgotten Fire], to a group of Armenian students. The novel is based on his great-uncle's experiences during the 1915 Armenian genocide with the book's main character, 12-year-old Vahan Kenderian, being based on the him. During the Armenian genocide, between one and one and half million Armenians were killed by the Ottoman Empire. Following his remarks, he answered questions from the students.
