C-SPAN's Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their "2012 LCV Cities Tour" in Augusta, Maine, on September 10-13 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.</description>

      <title>The 1964 Daisy Girl Advertisement</title>
      <description>On September 7, 1964, at approximately 9:50 p.m. NBC ran an ad for the presidential election campaign of Lyndon Johnson. The advertisement, featuring a little girl plucking a daisy followed by images of nuclear destruction, became known as The Daisy Girl Ad, and is often cited as one of the most important campaign commercials ever created. Professor Robert Mann, author of the book [Daisy Petals and Mushroom Clouds: LBJ, Barry Goldwater, and the Ad that Changed American Politics], was joined in discussion by the actress who portrayed the Daisy Girl and the commercial's art director. The campaign commercial, originally called "Peace, Little Girl, and several other ads from the Johnson campaign were shown. The panelists also responded to questions submitted by members of the audience.</description>

Americans United for Change released this ad on November 18, 2009, responding to ads targeting Representative Murphy (D-CT) for his vote on the Health Care bill. It aired on local stations in the Hartford, Connecticut, area. Versions of this ad also responded to ads targeted at other legislators.
Americans United for Change is a "progressive" organization that advocates for a wide range of progressive initiatives. They released this ad as well as others during the week in a $1.7 million ad buy to counter ads by Employers for a Healthy Economy and the 60plus organization.</description>
