      <title>Ohio Statehouse Tour</title>
      <description>Gregg Dodd gave a tour of the Ohio Statehouse. He pointed out art, architecture, and historical artifacts. Mr. Dodd talked about President Abraham Lincoln's multiple visits to the building as well as the hearing rooms named for the eight U.S. presidents from Ohio, focusing on Presidents Grant and McKinley.
C-SPAN's Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their "2012 LCV Cities Tour" in Columbus, Ohio, on July 9-12 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.</description>

      <title>Q&amp;A with Scott Miller</title>
      <description>Scott Miller is the author of the new book on the assassination of President William McKinley on September 6, 1901. In the book Mr. Miller examines President McKinley and his assassin, Leon Czolgosz, in the context of the era in which they lived. During that period, the country changed in many ways. It was recovering from an economic downturn. Big business was producing many new products (Coke, Ivory Soap) and was looking worldwide for new markets. The book also examines Mr. Czolgosz's interest in the rising anarchist movement and its influence on him.
Prior to writing this, his first book, Scott Miller reported for the [Wall Street Journal], the [Washington Post], and Reuters. He was also a contributor to CNBC and Great Britain's Sky News.</description>

      <title>American Presidents Panel</title>
      <description>The panel discussion featured four historians, all of whom contributed biographies to the American Presidents Series, published by Times Books. Panelists talked about their writing experiences, as well as the presidents about whom they wrote. Ms. Appleby is the author of the Thomas Jefferson biography, Mr. Diggins wrote the John Adams biography, and Mr. Phillips is the author of the volume on William McKinley. Mr. Brinkley was working on a biography of Gerald Ford, and also served as the moderator for this panel. Following prepared remarks, the panelists responded to questions from the audience. The American Presidents Series, which is edited by presidential historian Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., offers books that encapsulate each chief executive's life, career and presidency. The publisher planned to release biographies of forty-three presidents over the course of several years.</description>

      <title>Book Discussion on [Murdering McKinley]</title>
      <description>Eric Rauchway talked about his book, [Murdering McKinley: The Making of Theodore Roosevelt's America] published by Hill and Wang, which recounts how assassin Leon Czolgosz, the late President McKinley, and President Theodore Roosevelt defined the Progressive Era. Mr. Rauchway argued that the progressive leadership of Theodore Roosevelt made Americans and historians alike forget about President William McKinley after his murder. In his research Mr. Rauchway discovered why Czolgosz decided to murder the president. He also describes Theodore Roosevelt at the moment of his ascension to the White House.</description>

      <description>In the first of an eight part series on the Ohio presidents, the life of William McKinley, the 25th president who served from 1897 to 1901, was profiled. Historians and scholars discussed the public and private lives of President McKinley. Viewers also participated in the discussion by telephone. During his term, the U.S. declared war on Spain after the battleship Maine mysteriously blew up in Havana harbor. President McKinley was shot on September 6, 1901 by Leon Czolgosz. He died eight days later. The museum's McKinley room, with its various period furnishings, personal effects and wax figures, was also shown.
