      <title>Senator Mitch McConnell on John Jordan Crittenden</title>
      <description>Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) talked about the political career of fellow Kentuckian John J. Crittenden, a member of the U.S. Senate in the 1800s. A friend and ally to Henry Clay, Crittenden also served as Kentucky's governor and twice as U.S. Attorney General. Senator McConnell emphasized Crittenden's commitment to the Union before and during the Civil War and reflected on how current lawmakers could learn from former legislators. 
This event was hosted by Eastern Kentucky University.</description>

      <title>Kentucky State of the Commonwealth Address</title>
      <description>Governor Steve Beshear (D-KY) gave the annual state of the commonwealth address. The governor outlined what he termed as "weaknesses." Governor Bashear called on state legislators to find new ways of fund programs cut during the recession including funding for education and school books. He also asked lawmakers to modernize Kentucky's tax code and warned against the vitriolic politics of Washington saying "we are Kentuckians first, Republicans and Democrats second."       <title>King Louis XVI of France</title>
      <description>Louisville Metro Councilman Tom Owens talked about the history of Louisville and the origins of the name. The settlement, founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark, was named after King Louis XVI of France, due to his support of the American Revolution. He was interviewed at the statue of King Louis XVI outside the Jefferson County Courthouse in downtown Louisville. The statue by French sculptor Achille-Joseph Valois was commissioned by the king's daughter, Marie-Therese, and originally unveiled in Montpellier, France, about 1829. It was given to the city of Louisville by Montpellier, its French sister city, in 1967.

      <description>J. Blaine Hudson, co-author of [Two Centuries of Black Louisville: A Photographic History], gave a tour of locations in Louisville which were important to the history of blacks in Louisville. He talked about the slave trade, black troops during the Civil War, civil rights protests, and the black business district in Louisville.

      <title>Thomas Jefferson and Louisville</title>
      <description>Louisville Metro Councilman Tom Owens talked about the history of Louisville and Thomas Jefferson's ties to Kentucky. Jefferson never visited Louisville, but was the governor when Louisville was part of Virginia. He was interviewed at the statue of Thomas Jefferson in front of the Jefferon County Courthouse (now known as Louisville Metro Hall) in downtown Louisville. The statue by Moses Jacob Ezekiel, given to the city in 1901.

      <title>Locust Grove and the Clark Family</title>
      <description>Carol Ely gave a tour of Locust Grove, the farm established by William and Lucy Clark Croghan in 1790. She talked about the house, the family, their slaves, and their place in history. William Croghan was the brother-in-law and surveying partner of Revolutionary War hero George Rogers Clark, founder of Louisville, who spent the last nine years of his life at Locust Grove, from 1809 to 1818. His brother William Clark stopped there with Meriwether Lewis upon their return from their expedition to the Pacific.

      <title>Kentucky Old State Capitol</title>
      <description>Leslie McWhorter gave a tour of the Old Capitol building in Frankfort. The Old State House was constructed from 1827 to 1830 to replace two previous structures on the site that had burned, the first in 1813 and the second in 1824, and served as the capitol until 1910. It was the first major work of native Kentuckian, Gideon Shryock, which introduced Greek-Revival architecture to the United States west of the Appalachian Mountains. This was the only pro-Union state capitol occupied by the Confederate army during the Civil War.

      <title>Assassination of Governor Goebel</title>
      <description>Sara Elliott talked about the assassination of Kentucky Governor William Goebel (D), the only U.S. governor ever to be assassinated while in office. He was shot January 30, 1900, as he approached the capitol where his disputed election was being decided. He was sworn in the next day and died February 3, 1900. Ms. Elliott was interviewed at the Old State Capitol, where there is a statue of Governor Goebel and a plaque where he fell.
