      <description>Senator Schumer and other Senators from both New York and New Jersey briefed the media on the Hurricane Sandy Response Bill. On Friday, December 28, the Senate approved a $60 billion relief package to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy. Shortly after the vote, New York Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand talked about what the funding would mean to residents of their region who were impacted by the storm. Senator Schumer urged House Speaker John Boehner to quickly bring the measure to the House floor and says it would be "unconscionable" for the chamber to adjourn without bringing it up for a vote. They also answered questions from the media.</description>
