      <title>Arabian Peninsula States</title>
      <description>Arabian Gulf states scholars talked about the decline of American power. Kuwait University's Political Science Professor Abdullah Al-Shayji called the U.S. "a broken superpower" when describing its influence in the Arabian Gulf states. Panelists agreed that the East is rising in influence and Arab nations were looking more to Asia for economic interests. 
The 21st Annual Arab-U.S. Policymakers Conference was held by the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.</description>

      <title>Security Threats to the United States</title>
      <description>The Senate Armed Services Committee held a hearing on current and future worldwide threats to national security. Witnesses testified about various potential threats and particularly on port security. They responded to several questions about the approval of a sale of port terminal assets to Dubai Port World and a review process that had recently been agreed to by the company and Bush administration. They also talked about cooperation with the United Arab Emirates on efforts to combat global terrorism and various security measures implemented at seaports in the U.S. and abroad to prevent terrorist incidents.
 
 There was a closed session of this hearing following the open session.</description>

 A re-air of a 6-7 minute videotape of Saddam Hussein recorded, according to Abu Dhabi TV, on April 9 in the Al Azamyiah neighborhood of Baghdad, a Sunni community loyal to Saddam.
 
 A re-air of a 4-minute audiotape also recorded by Saddam on April 9 but never broadcast.
 
 A report on the return of normal life to Iraq, including Iraqis taking over street cleaning, restoring power, returning stolen medicine, and explaining why it took so long for the Americans to deter and arrest looters.
 
 A report on Interpol's warning to collectors not to deal in stolen Iraqi antiquities, and on Interpol sending a team to research what was stolen.
 
 A summit in Riyadh of Iraq's neighbors, including Turkey, Syria, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia - as well as Egypt and Dubai - and the friction they have over Turkey's position on autonomy for the Kurds and the U.S.'s choices for members of Iraq's interim government.
 
 A feature piece on the Iraqi farmer who shot down the Apache helicopter with his lone rifle.
 
 The newscast was recorded in Arabic at 1 p.m. Eastern time which is 9 p.m. in the United Arab Emirates.</description>
