All 18 members cast their votes for President Obama and Vice President Biden. The proceedings included the Columbus Police Honor Guard, the national anthem, and prayers. They opened with a moment of silence for those killed in a shooting December 14, 2013, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
