      <title>Climate Change Legislation Markup, Day 3</title>
      <description>The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee reconvened its third day of work to consider S. 1733, the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act. The Senate Environment Committee voted to send the climate change bill to the full Senate without Republican participation. The bill was voted out of committee 11 to 1 with Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) as the only Democrat against the bill.</description>

Following Senator Boxer's statement, Ranking Member Senator Inhofe delivered prepared remarks calling for revised EPA modeling. Republican committee members had boycotted the mark up and were not present.</description>

      <title>Presidential Remarks on Climate Change</title>
      <description>President Obama delivered remarks at a United Nations summit on climate change. In his remarks he aid the U.S. had been among the nations "slow to respond to or even recognize the magnitude of the climate threat," and spoke about actions he had taken in the first few months of his presidency to counter global warming. 
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon convened a climate change summit to focus heads of state on the urgent need for action on global climate change, and to mobilize political will needed to reach a agreement at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.</description>
