      <title>Google Privacy</title>
      <description>Marc Rotenberg talked about Google's new privacy policy, which allows the company to share all of the personal data it has from more than 1 billion users across all of its services. Attorneys general in 32 states have called the policy an invasion of privacy and the EU has said the policy may violate European law. Mr. Rotenberg's Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) sued the Federal Trade Commission to stop the new privacy policy. A federal court dismissed the lawsuit, but the case is being appealed.</description>

      <title>U.S. Computer System Vulnerability</title>
      <description>James Lewis talked about the vulnerability of U.S. computer systems to "cyber attacks" after U.S and South Korean computers were hit by a series of attacks on both government and commercial websites. He also discussed the federal government's role in protecting sensitive systems. Mr. Lewis leads the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Commission on Cybersecurity for the 44th Presidency, which released its final report, "Securing Cyberspace for the 44th Presidency" on December 8, 2008.

AT&amp;T], which reshaped the telecommunications market. In 1982 AT&amp;T agreed to a settlement that would break up the company, and the divestiture began in 1984.       <title>Taxation of Internet Sales</title>
      <description>Steve DelBianco, Jerome Horton, and Joe Crosby talked about taxing goods sold over the Internet. California recently had begun requiring Internet merchants to collect sales tax, and other states were looking at similar actions. The National Governors Association and the Retail Industry Leaders Association support a uniform national internet sales tax, and several members of Congress have proposed variations on the legislation. A national law would override a 1992 Supreme Court decision blocking states from collecting taxes on retailers that do not have a physical presence in their states.       <title>Communicators with Nora Volkow</title>
      <description>Dr. Nora Volklow talked about tests conducted by National Institutes of Health (NIH) scientists and the Energy Department's Brookhaven National Laboratory. The test results show that brain chemistry becomes altered after 50 minutes of cell phone usage. The study did not make conclusions about long-term effects of the altered brain activity.
Kenneth Foster, who does extensive research into the effect of radiofrequency energy, spoke by phone about his concerns with the NIH test and other beliefs about the long-term effects of cell phone radiation.
Epidemiologist Devra Davis also talked by phone about the NIH test. She believes that cell phone radiation does produce harmful effects on the brain.</description>
