Busing and Public School Integration in Charlotte

James Ferguson talked about the use of busing to integrate schools in Charlotte, North Carolina. His firm argued for the litigants in the 1969 Swann case that desegregated Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools using busing. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld that decision in 1971, clearing the way for busing nationwide. In 1999 he argued unsuccessfully against an end to that court-ordered desegregation.
